Stop browsing tackle. Get a kit that works together.
Tell us what you fish for, where, and what you want to spend. Tackle Box Picks recommends a complete kit, from rod to pliers, with every piece checked to work with the rest.

Four questions, one kit
Most tackle sites hand you a catalog of thousands of items. We ask only what changes the gear you need, then fill each slot of the kit for you. You can swap any piece for one of a few alternatives.
What are you after?
Bass, trout, panfish, catfish, or inshore saltwater.
Where will you fish?
From the bank or a pier, a boat, a kayak, or wading a stream.
How much have you fished?
First time, a few trips, or regular.
What's your budget?
Starter, mid-range, or premium. We show the kit total up front.
Kits we're building first
Five common kinds of trips, each in starter, mid-range and premium budgets.
| Trip | For | Kit centers on |
|---|---|---|
| Freshwater from the bank | New anglers fishing ponds, lakes and piers | Spinning combo, bobbers, live-bait rigs |
| Bass from a boat | Anglers fishing lakes and reservoirs | Baitcasting or spinning setup, soft plastics, crankbaits |
| Trout streams | Wading small to mid-size rivers | Ultralight rod, spinners, wading basics |
| Catfish | Rivers and lakes, day or night | Medium-heavy rod, circle hooks, rod holders |
| Inshore saltwater | Bays, flats, and jetties | Corrosion-resistant reel, leader, jigs |
What we check before a piece goes in a kit
Mismatched gear is one of the most common reasons a first trip goes badly. Every kit will be checked against these rules, and a person reviews each recommendation before it goes live.
Line fits the rod
Line strength falls inside the rod's rated line range.
Reel fits the rod
Reel size matches the rod's power, so the setup balances in your hand.
Gear fits the water
Inshore kits use saltwater-rated reels and corrosion-resistant hooks.
Prices stay current
Prices and stock refresh daily, and out-of-stock products are swapped out of kits.
